Two Dollar Tim Foljahn plays his F*cking Love Songs at Joe's Pub Thursday night at 7pm.

Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door. 
First he had a triple bypass, now he's gonna break your heart.

Tim Foljahn is a Michigan-born, New York-based singer-songwriter/guitarist who has more than likely played on one of your favorite records. Some highlights from the tip of his iceberg-sized resume: He was the guitarist on the first two Cat Power records. He toured with and worked on the final Townes Van Zandt recordings.  He lent his guitar skills to Half Japanese as well as the Boredoms. He played on the fantastic Thurston Moore solo record Psychic Hearts. All the while, Foljahn released a series of his own brooding and lovely song cycles and experimental recordings under the moniker Two Dollar Guitar. Songs For An Age Of Extinction is Foljahn's first "song-based" record since Two Dollar Guitar's The Wear and Tear of Fear from 2006 and his first release for Kiam Records.

Here is Dusty's call to arms:
'The Other' is sort of a tough concept, but once you get it the whole thing sounds very simple. It is in reference to any time you felt like and outsider, or any story dealing with anytime anyone felt outside of the 'in-group'. For example, one of the short films is about people who can't smell, which is a subset of the population that is outside the 'norm' of people who can smell. So basically it is any story about a moment when you were outside the norm or felt like an outsider, or it could also be a case when you are dealing with the outsider. Try to not say "the other" though, because it is going to be a long film and I'm sure if they hear "the other" a million times it will get pretty annoying. If you do leave a message please leave me your contact information so I can put you in the credits for the film.

Dusty's Daily Animations

I'm going to start this for the month of February (but dont' wait to leave a message), maybe longer if the response is good. I've set up a voicemail service where people can leave messages. Then I am going to select a few of these to animate. I'm going to try to do one every day. I'll try. They should definitely be under thirty seconds, but preferably around ten or fifteen seconds. Just a few sentences, an idea, a word that you think sounds cool, a line from a book that you like, something you heard in the hall that afternoon, a secret that you don't want anyone to know, or maybe you do, something that bothers you, something that... you get the idea, right? Basically anything. I just think it is a perfect project for you, partially because I want to animate something you say, but also because you can give it to the students and let them run with it. You can do more than one, you can do as many as you want. You can do it a few times a day. If it runs long term, I might have regulars that I do often. I don't know. Of course, the idea is in its infancy and will change ten times by the end of this email. Everything will be anonymous, unless the person leaves his name and wants to be recognized.
